Atera Alternative: How Infronest Compares

Atera is a popular cloud IT management platform that combines RMM, helpdesk and PSA, priced per technician rather than per device. Teams look for an alternative when RMM and ticketing are only part of what they run, and monitoring, assets, mobile devices and security testing sit in other tools.

Infronest is an all-in-one IT management platform: 19 modules — monitoring, IT assets, helpdesk, device management, patch management, RMM and VAPT — in a single tenant-isolated workspace. See all modules →

When Atera is the right call

If your work is mainly RMM and ticketing for many endpoints with a small team, Atera’s per-technician pricing with unlimited devices is a strong reason to stay. MSPs that bill customers from the same tool also get a PSA layer Infronest does not try to replace.

Atera also moves quickly on AI-assisted support and has a broad set of integrations. If your helpdesk depends on those, or your patching estate leans on macOS and third-party apps, keep Atera and revisit the question when your toolchain grows.

Starter:
free 7-day trial, no credit card
Team:
₹9,999/month flat (3 IT agents included, up to 10)
Professional:
₹49,999/month flat
Enterprise:
from ₹94,999/month
Employees:
Flat per plan — employees raise tickets free. Add-ons are priced separately: MDM Enterprise (device and patch management) is ₹850 per endpoint per month, minimum 50 endpoints. Full pricing

Compare pricing models

So the two bills grow on different axes: Atera with the number of technicians, Infronest with the platform tier plus the endpoints you put under device management. Infronest tends to make sense when the platform fee replaces other tools you pay for today (monitoring, an asset register, security testing), not when RMM is the only line item. Model both against your own technician count, endpoint count and toolchain.

Infronest platform tiers

Infronest prices the platform per tenant — Team ₹9,999 per month (3 IT agents included, up to 10), Professional ₹49,999 per month and Enterprise from ₹94,999 per month, after a free 7-day Starter trial — and device management, patching and scripting are a per-endpoint add-on (MDM Enterprise ₹850 per endpoint per month, minimum 50 endpoints). Remote Access is a separate add-on at ₹249 per user per month.

Atera pricing

Atera publishes its plans on atera.com/pricing: separate plan families for IT departments and for MSPs, priced per technician, with each technician able to manage unlimited devices. Its site blocked our automated check on 20 October 2026, so we do not quote a figure here; check that page for current prices. Atera prices per technician, not per device: its subscription FAQ says each licensed technician can support an unlimited number of devices and customers. If you manage many endpoints per technician, that model is hard to beat on RMM cost alone, and we would rather say so than hide it.

What Infronest adds around RMM

  • The case for switching is scope, not RMM features. In Infronest the monitored server, the managed laptop, the asset record with its purchase and assignment history, the open ticket and the latest VAPT finding are one connected record. Server, SNMP network and website monitoring sit in the same workspace, so an alert can open a ticket against a known asset without an integration.
  • Device management also covers more than desktops: Android through Device Owner enrolment, and iPhone and iPad through native Apple MDM enrollment, in the same console as Windows, macOS and Linux. For teams that run Atera next to a separate MDM, an asset register and a security-testing vendor, that is where the consolidation saving comes from.

Per-client isolation and compliance

  • Infronest gives every client organisation its own isolated tenant across all modules, with an audit trail covering access, changes and tickets. Infronest is India-based and DPDP Act 2023 aligned, which helps Indian IT teams and MSPs answer data-processor questions from their own customers.

Migrating from Atera to Infronest

  • Moving off Atera is an agent swap plus a helpdesk move. The safe pattern is a parallel run: install the Infronest agent alongside the Atera agent on a pilot group, so no device goes unmonitored while you compare what each platform reports. Monitoring thresholds, automation profiles and scripts are rebuilt in Infronest, not imported, and that rebuild is where most of the project time goes.
  • Plan the helpdesk side separately. Export open and recent tickets and your customer and contact lists from Atera as CSV, and import what you need into the Infronest helpdesk and asset records. Billing and contract data from Atera’s PSA has no Infronest equivalent, so keep it in your accounting tool or an archived export.
  • Export the device inventory, customer and contact lists, and ticket history from Atera as your migration record.
  • Deploy the Infronest agent alongside the Atera agent on 10–20 Windows, macOS and Linux devices, and compare alerts for one to two weeks.
  • Rebuild monitoring thresholds, patch rings (Windows and Linux focus) and your most-used scripts; let one full patch cycle finish on the pilot group.
  • Import tickets, contacts and assets into Infronest so new tickets land against known devices from day one.
  • Verify remote access per device class with Infronest’s MeshCentral-based remote desktop before removing the old agent and its remote-access integration.
  • Uninstall the Atera agent in waves once each group is healthy in Infronest, and keep the exports with your change records.

What you lose by switching

  • Atera is a well-liked, fast-moving platform, and leaving it has specific costs. Weigh these before you commit:
  • Per-technician pricing with unlimited devices. For a device-heavy fleet with a small team, Atera’s model is usually cheaper for RMM than a per-endpoint add-on.
  • A PSA built for MSP billing. Atera ties tickets to contracts and invoicing for MSP customers; Infronest has a helpdesk and ITSM, not time-tracking-to-invoice billing.
  • Atera’s AI features. Its AI Copilot is included in its plans and it sells further AI tooling; Infronest’s helpdesk automation is narrower.
  • Patching breadth. Atera patches Windows, macOS and Linux plus third-party applications. Infronest’s patching scope: Windows and Linux OS patching in depth; macOS and third-party app updates on a best-effort basis (Homebrew, winget, Chocolatey where installed).
  • The integration catalogue and community: remote-access partners such as Splashtop and AnyDesk, a vulnerability-management integration with Vicarius, and a large MSP user community.

Atera alternative FAQ

For core RMM and helpdesk on Windows, macOS and Linux (monitoring, scripts, remote access and ticketing), yes. Two gaps are real: Infronest has no MSP billing PSA, and Atera patches more broadly. Infronest’s patching scope: Windows and Linux OS patching in depth; macOS and third-party app updates on a best-effort basis (Homebrew, winget, Chocolatey where installed). What Infronest adds is IT asset lifecycle, mobile device management and VAPT in the same workspace, 19 modules in all.
